de aankondiging van onze komst op de www van district 5320
The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas. In a typical four-week tour, applicants participate in five full days of vocational visits, 15 to 20 club presentations, 10 to 15 formal visits and social events, two to three days at the district conference, three to four hours per day of cultural and site tours, and three to four hours per day of free time with host families. For each team member, the Foundation provides the most economical round-trip airline ticket between the home and host countries. Rotarians in the host area provide for meals, lodging, and group travel within their district.2011 GSE Hosting OpportunitySince 1965, these Exchanges have offered an educational experience to over 52,000 young business professionals. They meet and live with Rotarians and their families in the spirit of friendship and hospitality, and serve as ambassadors of their community and of their nation.
Our Group Study Exchange for 2010-2012 will be with District 1590 in the Netherlands. District Governor Johrita and District Governor Onno te Nuyl have agreed to exchange teams which focus on conflict resolution advocacy in their respective vocations. In a broader social context, the study of conflict resolution advocacy promotes justice in the various vocations represented by the Dutch and American teams. Our District will host the Dutch team in 2011 and Governor Onno’s District will host our team in 2012.
The Dutch team from District 1590 arrives at LAX airport on April 19th and departs May 15th 2011. The teams will consist of one team leader and 5 team members. As the host district we are required to schedule a minimum of five days of vocational experience for each team member in order to provide an appreciation of how his or her business is conducted in their host country. We will have two rest days upon arrival to help deal with jet lag. The team members will have one half day weekly, free from meetings, and fun and fellowship on weekends. We will give the team a 1 or 2 day break in the middle of the visit. We agree to an average of 7 nights with each host family and to get them to a maximum of 3 club meetings per week.
